Will I see a glacier on this cruise?
This cruise does not visit a tidewater glacier (a glacier that ends in the ocean). However, you may see Bear Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. Bear Glacier is a piedmont/valley glacier that ends in a freshwater lake. We are not able to cruise to the face of the glacier because it ends 4 miles beyond the shoreline, but it is visible from a distance along our route if weather permits. You may also view alpine glaciers perched high in the mountains.
Will I see any whales on this cruise?
While we cannot guarantee whale sightings, our captains visit wildlife hot spots and communicate with other vessels about recent wildlife sightings to give our guests the best chances of viewing whales. On average, we see whales on 75% of our 4 Hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruises between June and mid-August. The longer you are on the water, the greater your chances are of seeing whales.
Will I get seasick on this cruise?
You will be cruising through the calm, protected waters of Resurrection Bay, where the likeliness of seasickness is typically low. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking motion sickness medication such as Dramamine or Bonine before the cruise. This medication can be purchased at our check-in offices and onboard our cruises.
Is a meal included on this cruise?
No, there is no meal included on this cruise. We have a snack bar onboard, and you are more than welcome to bring your own food with you. Glass containers and personal alcohol are not permitted.
We took the 4 hour ride on the Orca Song with Captain Laura and we couldn’t have enjoyed it more. In the bay we saw otters, puffins, seals, sea lions, bald eagles … and then she got the call that other boats had spotted Orcas on the ocean! We made our way to their spot and watched in amazement as they put on their show. Captain Laura shared insightful and interesting facts throughout the trip and they passed out complimentary binoculars for everyone. Grade A service from start to finish! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Our 4 hour tour was an amazing experience. I was worried that it was shorter than most tours and that we wouldn’t have time to see very much — that was not the case at all! From the moment we pulled out of the harbor and saw a bald eagle on the harbor marker, there was no end to the wildlife and natural beauty. Our captain was full of information and gave just enough commentary to be interesting but not overwhelming. She and her crew were skilled at spotting wildlife to point out to us and knowing where to likely find them. While wildlife is never a guarantee, we were able to see eagles, sea otters, harbor seals, and orcas. I felt that she piloted the boat in such a way as to give us maximum viewing opportunities while still respecting these beautiful animals and keeping a safe distance. Being able to see not only the wildlife but also glaciers and the geological formations they left behind was absolutely a highlight of our quick visit to Seward.
Organized, efficient and timely. The Captain made sure we saw it all! Enjoyed her educational info as we cruised around the Fjord and bay. The crew was friendly and helpful. Perfect amount of time to see wildlife and then explore the town of Seward.
