A Note to our Customers about our Whittier Cruises

Fairwesther Express II approaching Surprise Glacier

After 20 years of operating cruises in Prince William Sound, Major Marine Tours has decided to end operations in Whittier starting in 2019. This change is bittersweet for all of us at Major Marine Tours as we have loved working with the Whittier community and showing our guests the beauty of Prince William Sound. Due to increasing demand for cruises in Seward we have decided to refocus our operations to meet that demand, and we will relocate our vessels to where they are most needed. We would like to thank all of our loyal customers who have cruised with us in Whittier and hope that you will still choose Major Marine Tours in the future. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and encourage you to consider one of our seven cruise options from Seward.

Our cruises from Seward explore the glaciers and wildlife of Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. This area is known for its abundant wildlife and provides some of the best whale watching opportunities in Alaska. The area is also home to over 35 named glaciers that flow from the Harding Icefield, which covers an area of over 700 square miles. Most cruises from Seward feature the same great advantages as our Prince William Sound cruises, including reserved seating, our Alaska salmon and prime rib buffet, and narration by an onboard National Park Ranger.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE GLACIERS

Our full-day cruises in Kenai Fjords National Park visit towering tidewater glaciers and give you ample time to watch for glacier calving. Our 6 Hour Cruise visits one tidewater glacer, our 7.5 Hour Cruise visits 2 tidewater glaciers, and our 8.5 Hour Cruise visits 3 tidewater glaciers in the remote Northwestern Fjord.

IF YOU WANT CALM WATERS

Our half-day cruises explore the protected waters of Resurrection Bay, which are calmer than the open waters that we explore on our full-day cruises. Our half-day cruises range from 3.5 hours to 5 hours and take you to the best wildlife viewing areas in Resurrection Bay.
