The MMT Blog / Major Marine Tours Receives Adventure Green Alaska Certification

Major Marine Tours and Harbor 360 Hotel are excited to announce that we have been certified as “Green Businesses” through the Adventure Green Alaska Program. This voluntary program is the only sustainability certification program in Alaska and recognizes tourism businesses who practice economic, environmental, and social sustainability. We are proud to be included among the ranks of other leading environmental tourism companies in Alaska. The certification program is run by the Alaska Tourism Industry Association, the state’s nonprofit tourism marketing association. In addition to certifying green businesses in Alaska, the Adventure Green Alaska program helps visitors “travel green” by providing a list of green businesses and tips for eco-friendly travel in Alaska.

Major Marine Tours is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and will continue to look for new opportunities for supporting sustainable tourism in Alaska. Our onboard National Park/National Forest Rangers are part of our long-standing partnership with the National Park Service and US Forest Service to promote environmental education. Our vessels are outfitted with fuel-efficient, low-emissions engines, and we use environmentally-friendly products onboard our vessels. We partner with the Alaska SeaLife Center to promote marine research and wildlife rehabilitation, collecting donations for the SeaLife Center at the time of reservation and donating all proceeds from our boarding photos to the SeaLife Center. We are also proud participants of Whale SENSE, a program that recognizes whale watching companies that are committed to responsible whale watching practices. More information about our environmental initiatives can be found on our Going Green & Giving Back page.
